Double shooting shatters New Year s eve celebrations

A woman has been shot dead and her male companion critically wounded during New Year's
celebrations in Perth overnight.

The man and woman were sitting in a car in Perth's Kings Park, where thousands had
gathered to witness a light show in the CBD, when they were both shot at around 9pm local
time.

A police spokesman says the man was rushed to hospital in a very serious condition.

No-one has been arrested in relation to the killing.
