Because of 15 felony convictions and behavior that allegedly has included trying to pay off witnesses in his latest trial, defendant Daniel H. Ward on Monday was sentenced to the state's highest penalty, 25 years to life.
Acting County Judge Vincent J. Reilly Jr. said Ward's criminal background called for extended imprisonment and lifetime supervision to best preserve the safety of the community.
Ward on Monday received three concurrent maximum sentences for his October conviction of first- degree robbery and two counts of first-degree assault. Normally, he would have received 8 1/3 to 25 years for the robbery …
