Vic: Exhibition to open at Holocaust museum

The Jewish Holocaust Museum in Melbourne is marking the 60th anniversary of the WarsawGhetto Uprising with an exhibition.

Resistance 1943 opens tonight at the museum in Selwyn Street, Elsternwick, and willrun for four months.

Museum spokesman STAN MARKS says the exhibition includes excerpts from memoirs of survivorsand a partially-burned torah scroll saved from a synagogue in Poland.

He says it'll focus on events such as the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in April 1943, whenhundreds of malnourished, poorly armed Jews kept the German army at bay for 27 days.

Mr MARKS says the show also highlights the courageous efforts of the Danish peopleto save almost their entire Jewish population -- more than 7,000 people -- from deportation.
