GOP FAVORITE DRAWS FEDERAL COMPLAINT FROM A RIVAL.(CAPITAL REGION)

As the party favorite in a four-way GOP primary for the open 22nd Congressional District seat now held by Jerry Solomon, John Sweeney has had opponents nipping at his heels since the campaign began. But none have drawn blood yet.

Newspaper ad exec Nicholas Caimano, trying to set himself apart from the pack, stepped up the attack this week with a formal complaint to Federal Election Commission that Sweeney broke a host of campaign finance laws.

Taking a bite at Sweeney's well-heeled campaign, Caimano accused him of accepting seven individual donations over the legal limit of $2,000; failing to report in-kind contributions and expenses for things like buttons and bumper stickers, and not getting the name and address of every donor's employer.
