Hixson, Tenn., Restaurateur Turns Family Recipe into Business.

May 13--One of the owners of an upcoming eatery in Hixson is expecting to build the business on a dessert whose recipe came from his grandmother.

"We like to think we're using the same ingredients as she used," said co-owner Jay Simpson, who also owns Graphic Solutions in Hixson.

Mr. Simpson said his maternal grandmother, Ivah Miller, operated the Hasty Tasty custard stand in Lorain, Ohio, in the late 1950s to early 1960s. Custard is a popular treat in the Midwest, he said.

Mr. Simpson and his wife, Kathie, and Steve and Rebecca Michael are the owners of Nana's Frozen Custard, which is scheduled to open at 6707 …
